South Quay Spinal Injury and Neurodisability Suite is located in Blyth, Northumberland close to shops, other amenities and public transport.
Assessment, rehabilitation, nursing and community reintegration for adults with spinal injuries and neurological conditions including acquired brain injuries is provided. Our programmes are tailored specifically to meet the needs of each individual to enable them to achieve their personal goals, reduce disability and improve outcome and the quality of life.
Our Facilities
The Suite has open and spacious, modern facilities, designed and equipped to meet the specific needs of clients and families.
- 11 single bedrooms all with en-suite shower rooms, music systems and televisions
- Independent living flat with kitchen, bedroom, shower room and sitting room
- Bathroom fully equipped with specialist bath and hoist system
- Internet and telephone facilities in all bedrooms
- Remotely operated TV's, curtains, heating and lights, linked to assisted technology in the bedrooms
- Lounge and dining room
- Quiet lounges on both floors
- Activities of daily living kitchen
- Automatic opening and closing door systems
- Large gardens and patio with direct level access
- Therapy room
- Mini bus with wheelchair lift
- Lift, fully accessible to wheelchairs and stretchers
Treatment Programme

Team
The named nurse and keyworker for each client will co-ordinate the rehabilitation programme, family involvement and liaise with other agencies.
Other services will include access to physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and clinical psychology, as well as specialist nursing and specialist advice on communication and assistive technology equipment.
GP services will be provided by doctors from local practices.
Staff training and professional development programmes are established and continuous.

Location
From A189:
Take A193 Cowpen Road. Stay on this road for approximately a mile and we are the last building on the right before the mini-roundabout.
From Blyth or coastal area:
Take B1328, Waterloo Road to the roundabout, then take the 2nd exit and follow the A193, Cowpen Road to the 2nd mini roundabout. Take the 1st exit and then turn left into South Quay car park.
By Rail:
The nearest train stations are at Newcastle and Morpeth.
By Bus:
Bus route 441 runs from Morpeth and bus route X5 from Newcastle.
