Peter Gidney Neurodisability Centre

Peter Gidney Neurodisability Centre

Peter Gidney Neurodisability Centre treats adults with low, medium or high nursing dependency needs including multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, Parkinson's Disease, brain trauma and neurological disorders.

Our facilities

We have a large, comfortable lounge and a dining room, which incorporates a kitchen area, where beverages and snacks can be prepared by clients.

Appetising and nourishing meals with varied menus are served in our dining room, or in the clients own room if preferred.

Personal laundry services are provided in-house. Clients are assisted to visit local facilities and make use of the wide range of public services available.

Multi-disciplinary team

Each aspect of care is discussed and agreed with the team members. We also work closely with members of community based multi-disciplinary teams to ensure that clients access the relevant agencies and treatment programmes, to meet their changing health needs. Physiotherapy services are also available.

Clients are registered locally with a General Practitioner and are able to access community resources such as dentists, opticians and chiropody as appropriate.

Care

The Manager and staff endeavour to ensure that each client's needs are met. Registered nurses have the role of key workers, each leading a team of staff providing care, support and encouragement for a small group of clients and planning their care in consultation with that individual, their relatives and their doctor.

Structured programmes of activities and daily living skills are implemented by staff to enable each client to achieve their full potential and, through this, as meaningful a lifestyle as their health will allow.

Admission & fees

Prior to admission, each new client and their relatives are encouraged to visit the Centre to understand the services available. We will also wish to discuss the personal preferences of each prospective client and whatever care needs may be required. This will usually involve pre-admission assessment by a member of our team.

The fees are dependent upon the individual's needs. Arrangements for the payment of fees will be agreed with referrers prior to admission.

For enquiries regarding admissions or for further information, please contact the Centre.
