Hothfield Manor Acquired Brain Injury Centre

Hothfield Manor Acquired Brain Injury Centre offers a specialised residential service for people with acquired brain injury and neurodisabilities, comprising of assessment, slow stream rehabilitation and respite services, training and care.
With early assessment and treatment we can provide an efficient holistic approach which aims to maximise physical, cognitive and functional recovery.
Our facilities
The main building at the Centre has twelve bedrooms, most of which have en suite facilities. A lift provides access to the first floor.
There is a kitchen where our clients and their visitors can prepare snacks and drinks. The Centre also has table tennis and snooker facilities.
We have seven purpose built bungalows, five two bedroom homes for shared occupancy and two one bedroom homes for single occupancy. The bungalows offer clients the opportunity to live independently in a supported environment or to experience independent living before making the transition back into the community.
Care
The Manager and staff endeavour to ensure that each clients individual needs are met.
We operate a key worker system, enabling each resident to develop a special relationship with a member of staff.
The key worker acts as a facilitator, supporting individuals in activities of daily living in a 'structured programme' of vocational, educational, occupational and leisure activities such as gardening, sports and other skills.
Our team
Each aspect of care is discussed and agreed with the team members. Clients can benefit from therapy provided by our own occupational therapist. Our full time activities co-ordinator ensures that a varied and stimulating programme of activities is offered, to suit the needs and preferences of our client group.
We also work closely with members of community based multi-disciplinary teams to ensure that patients access the relevant agencies and treatment programmes, to meet their changing healthcare needs. The support for the service includes input from specialists such as the physiotherapist, who visit when required.
We employ in-house caterers to prepare appetising and nourishing meals with varied menus, accommodating all dietary needs.
Clients are registered locally with a General Practitioner and are able to access community resources such as dentists, opticians and chiropody as appropriate.
Referral, assessment and admission
Prior to admission, each new client and their relatives are encouraged to visit the Centre to understand the services available. We will also wish to discuss the personal preferences of each prospective client and whatever care needs may be required.
This will usually involve pre-admission assessment by a member of our team. The fees are dependent upon the individuals needs.
Arrangements for the payment of fees will be agreed with referrers prior to admission.
