Our programme
Our manager and staff endeavour to ensure that each client's individual needs are met.
We provide qualified nursing care 24 hours a day. Our registered nurses have the role of key workers, each leading a team of staff providing care, support and encouragement for a small group of clients and planning their care in consultation with that individual, their relatives and their doctor. Programmes and care plans are reviewed regularly by our team and at meetings with clients, relatives, referrers and funders.
Our structured programmes of recreational activities and daily living skills are tailored to meet the individual needs and choices of our clients, and are designed to enable each client to achieve their full potential. Clients are encouraged and assisted to visit local facilities and make wide use of the public services available.
Our team
Each aspect of care is discussed and agreed with the team members. We also work closely with specialist members of community based multidisciplinary teams to ensure that clients access relevant agencies and treatment programmes, appropriate to their changing healthcare needs.
The support for the service includes input from specialists such as the community tissue viability nurse, speech and language therapist, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, gastrostomy nurse, CPN (community psychiatric nurse) and dietitian, who visit when required. Clients also benefit from our close liaison with the Huntington's consulting team from the nearby Walkergate Park Neurosciences Department.
Our dedicated activities co-ordinator arranges a varied programme of activities to suit our client group, including outings to the cinema and theatre.
We employ in-house caterers to prepare appetising and nourishing meals with varied menus, accommodating all dietary needs.
Clients are registered locally with a General Practitioner and are able to access community resources such as dentists, opticians and chiropodists.
