Quality Ratings and Accounts

Quality star ratings were given by regulatory bodies according to criteria in the following seven areas: quality of life, choice and control, making a positive contribution, personal dignity and respect, freedom from discrimination and harassment, health and emotional well-being, economic well-being, leadership and management. The ratings provided a useful indicator as to how good a centre was.

Since 1 October 2010, CQC have ceased using the star rating system and are currently working with the care industry and other stakeholders to develop a replacement system to the star ratings system. You can check the quality ratings for any of our centres online at the regulatory authority websites, or simply ask a Centre Managers.

It is worth remembering that ratings reflected what the inspectors found at a point in time. Since the inspection, the centre may have addressed any concerns raised and carried out the improvements recommended by the inspectors.

Our latest figures from the Care Quality Commission are as below. This shows that in most of our centres, you can expect care that fully meets, or exceeds, the standards laid out by our regulators.

High Quality Care for All (June 2008) set out the NHS vision for quality to be at the heart of everything the NHS does and defined quality in terms of patient safety, clinical effectiveness and patient experience. Since April 2010, all providers of acute, mental health, learning disability and ambulance services have been required to produce a Quality Account, an annual report to the public about the quality of services provided.
