We make the Skills Pledge

The Huntercombe Group, as part of Four Seasons Health Care, made the Skills Pledge at a Learning and Skills Council (LSC) event in June. The company is already the sector leader for the number of staff who have attained NVQ qualifications and this is further commitment and a firm message that training is high on the agenda.
In 2005, we invested heavily establishing an in-house training centre to deliver health and social care and is now at the top of the sector for NVQ success rates with the highest Train to Gain rate for health and social care at 81.9%.
We have nearly 200 learners training in NVQs and Apprenticeships through Train to Gain. Success rates on Apprenticeships are at nearly 60% with Adult Apprenticeships currently being piloted within the company, including dementia care.
Making the Skills Pledge will act as a driver to expand across other sectors of the business and will encompass the whole company workforce, enhancing and enriching the development of staff working with residents.
Secretary of State for Skills, Rt Hon John Denham MP, said: "Making the Skills Pledge is key - not only to business performance but also to the lives of each individual within organisations. As we know from speaking to companies across the country, training makes a difference - it helps motivate staff and in turn increases productivity and impacts business bottom line. So it gives me great pleasure to see employers taking real and positive action and I urge others to get involved and make the Skills Pledge themselves."
