Based within one of our hospitals or centres, our managers have a pivotal role in ensuring the clinical and commercial success of our business. This role is extremely diverse and includes: the development of strong links with referrers to their service; the management of these referrals; recruitment and leadership of a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, nurses and therapists; ensuring the service at the hospital or centre complies with the appropriate regulatory authorities; recruitment and management of support staff and making certain the building is maintained to a high level.
Our consultants and doctors lead our multi-disciplinary teams in the delivery and development of the exceptional care we provide to our patients and clients, and are fully supported with regards to continuing professional development. Their teams comprise therapists, nursing staff and healthcare support workers.

These roles fall into areas of speciality and grades, which, in turn, are based on experience and skills. Consultant Psychiatrists head the multi-disciplinary clinical teams in our Mental Health Hospitals, under the leadership of the Medical Director for each hospital. They act as Responsible Clinicians (RCs) for their patients, as well as developing research and evidence-based medical care, which is shared across our other hospitals.

Consultants in Neurological Rehabilitation and Consultant Neuropsychiatrists work, in both a full or part-time capacity, in our brain injury and neurorehabilitation centres. They lead a clinical multi-disciplinary team, which develops appropriate evidence-based treatment programmes, and also conduct research.

Within our multi-disciplinary team we employ Associate Specialists and Staff Grade Doctors, who work closely with the patients and other multi-disciplinary team members to deliver a high quality service. In-house supervision and training is provided, as well as support for external training as appropriate. We provide career opportunities for advancement from Staff Grade to Associate Specialist, and (depending on experience, qualifications and current regulations) to consultant level.
We also work closely with a number of Universities and academic institutions in providing university placements. If you are an undergraduate or postgraduate student and are interested in a placement with us, you will need to go directly to the service area you have an interest in, using the find a centre facility and you will find listed any University associations. If your university is not listed we would suggest you write directly to the Centre or Hospital Manager to make enquiries. If you are a University or teaching hospital we would be happy for you to get in touch and discuss collaborations.

Key to our multi-disciplinary teams and our patients are our nursing staff and support workers.

We employ Registered Nurses who have qualifications in general, mental health, children’s nursing and learning disabilities dependent upon the services that they work in within the Group. All also undertake the role of the “named nurse”.

We also have Children’s nurses employed within the adolescent mental health services.

We have also have roles for Nurse Managers and Leadership and Development Nurses who have the responsibility for the effective management and leadership of nurses and care assistants and who encourage personal and professional development. They also oversee the quality of patient care.
